Will the Church face the Anti-Christ?

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.                                                                  Joel 2:31

Beast & Dragon

Who is the Beast and the Dragon?

In Revelation chapter 13 we find two entities named, the first is a "beast" and the other is a "dragon". From other passages in the Bible we can easily determine that the "dragon" mentioned here is Satan. Revelation 12:9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." So, who is the beast?

11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Revelation 13:1-8 "And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy....And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."

From this verse we learn that the beast is "wounded to death", in other words he died, then his deadly wound was healed. He has been brought back to life. Satan has always wanted to be just like God, "O Lucifer....For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High". At the midpoint of the tribulation Satan has made himself to appear like God, in that he has "ressurrected" the beast, much like Jesus was resurected. Satan has always tried to be a counterfeit!

Notice also that the beast is is given power to continue "forty and two months", or 3 1/2 years. Therefore, we can determine that the beast will be killed and revivified at the midpoint of the tribulation. Daniel says in  9:27 "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate..." and Matthew 24 says "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place....For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."
